Based on the work of Carl Jung, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, is the only data-tested personality assessment. It's been used by millions around the world to bring their lives and businesses to the next level. See what it can do for you.
"We cannot safely assume that other people's minds work on the same principles as our own. All too often, others with whom we come in contact do not reason as we reason, or do not value the things we value, or are not interested in what interests us.”
- Isabel Briggs Myers
I taught writing and literature for 13 years both stateside and in Europe. In all those years, I rarely came across a struggling student that wasn't actually capable of the work. More often, they were working against themselves in multiple ways. Getting them out of their own way and helping them shift the stories they were telling themselves was key to helping them succeed. While teaching, I also loved the challenge of writing curriculums that would help students understand complex issues of a time or genre even in an online asynchronous environment. Properly structuring the learning and environment are key factors for success.
In 2010, I began working as an Academic Coach at a medical school, and the coaching skills that had been marginal in the classroom became the center of my work. I knew I'd found My Place. I was told when hired that students would only come see me when forced to by the board, but I had 600 students a year come through my doors. I developed a training program for the peer tutoring program that offered leadership training for the tutors as an incentive to busy med students to take time to help their struggling classmates. I was asked to participate in faculty training to help faculty better help students in the classroom and participated in curriculum discussions and conferences.
In 2012, I started my own business and became a certified MBTI practitioner. I worked with adult students and struggling highschoolers. I did team buildings and conflict management workshops for nonprofits and small businesses. I helped individuals navigate career changes and develop their leadership style as introverts. I used MBTI to pull couples back from the brink of divorce as well as give new couples a solid foundation to build their relationship on.
In 2018, I became a Certified Master Practitioner of the MBTI. I'm particularly fascinated by type dynamics, and how understanding those dynamics can help us safely steer through the stormy waters of stress and conflict and arrive to the shore with our relationships not only still in tact, but stronger for the experience and the learning it brings.
